Lizzy Tan is a Singaporean-American dance artist based in Texas and London.
Lizzy received her BFA in Dance and BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. She also holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her artistic background also includes drama, visual art and classical music.
Lizzy's creative practice and solo performances centre on the philosophy of image and representation of the female performing body, drawing upon feminist literatures, literary criticism, art history and visual art. Her works have been selected for the Cohen New Works Festival and Dance Source Houston's Mind the Gap, and adjudicated for the Houston Choreographers: Generation Next galas. Lizzy's recent projects include choreography, performance installations, and films with creatives spanning photography, digital technologies, visual art and other movement research.
As a performer, Lizzy has danced works by Ania Catherine and Judith Sanchez Ruiz, Charles O. Anderson, Erica Gionfriddo, Courtney Mazeika, Gregory Dolbashian, Andrea Beckham, Yacov Sharir, Ananya Chatterjea, Dr. Lorenzo 'Rennie' Harris, Kira Blazek and Oluwaseun Olayiwola. She has been a member of Dance Repertory Theatre, the 2018 winter company of Sidra Bell Dance New York’s MODULE, Intercultural Roots, and a guest artist at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
